You'll discover many great books, make sure to check them out to read on your own...or even along with our volunteers.

We are excited to present our featured author, and Volunteer State Community College English professor, T.O. Moore reading her newly published book, Carson's Zoo Adventure: A Lesson in Love.
Stop by Thigpen Library and borrow Carson's Zoo Adventure: A Lesson in Love to take home and share during your family's storytime!
Author, T.O. Moore was inspired by her son Carson to write her first children's book.
As she was preparing for the birth of her son, she began purchasing books for his personal library. A collection she was excited to see grow with her son. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for Professor Moore to discover there were very few books where boys of color were featured as the main character.
Luckily for all of us, this experience propelled Moore to write Carson's Zoo Adventure: A Lesson on Love; with plans to create an entire series where a different boy of color would be represented as the main character. (We can't wait for the next in the series! You can be assured Thigpen Library will have a copy, hot off the press.)
Although we are thrilled to have T.O. Moore join the ranks of authors featured at Thigpen Library, this highlights the need for more diverse books, as well as diverse authors. Moore wanted to provide an accurate representation for all cultures and races to encourage people to celebrate the diversity that literature can bring. Thank you, Professor Moore - the world will be a better place for it!
KitLit TV offers a variety of great Read Out Loud storytimes, read by the authors and illustrators themselves!
Some may not be aware, but the Vol State Gallatin campus is home to many Sumner County Middle College students. Thigpen Library is happy to see them on a daily basis! Although it may see like everything involving Vol State is virtual, these amazing students come to campus each day.
Middle College students have been a HUGE part of our Read Across America campaign. They've been collecting books on campus and are sharing some of those donated books for our virtual storytime. We hope you enjoy!
