Thigpen Library @ Cookeville: Course Reserves / Textbooks

Does the library have textbooks available for students?

The library has a limited number of textbooks and DVDs on course reserve.  These reserve items are usually for in-library use only and for a two-hour loan period. DVDs on reserve may have different loan terms as established by the professor.

A photo ID is required to use the textbooks and DVDs on course reserve. The best ID is your Vol State student ID.

How do I find what items are on reserve?

In Pioneer Search, once you begin to type in the search box a drop-down menu appears. After typing, select “Course Reserves" from that menu.  You can search by the first four letters of your course name (e.g. ENGL) or by title of the textbook (e.g. "Bedford Reader").

As a faculty member, how do I put something on reserve?

To place items on library reserve, please complete the Course Reserve Form. Print and complete the form and bring it with the associated materials to the Circulation desk (the library's "ASK" desk).

Faculty reserve requests for each semester are processed in the order in which they are received by the Library Circulation Staff.  A minimum of 48 hours processing time (Monday-Friday) will be needed depending upon the number of materials being requested for reserve.  Faculty at the Upper Cumberland or Springfield locations can manage their reserve requests and materials through the library at each site.
